Mothers Day - The Mother Who

Introduction

Although it's often called Mother's Day in the UK, it has no connection with the American Mother's Day.
Mother's Day in the US is celebrated on the second Sunday of May each year.
The idea started in America when a woman called Anna Jarvis held a small memorial service for her own mother on 12 May 1907. Soon after, most places in America were observing the day and in 1914, the US president made it a national holiday, celebrated on the second Sunday of May.Lots of other countries celebrate Mother's Day at different times of the year as well.

          The history of mothers day

The real story of Mothers Day in US began with the efforts of a dynamic writer and poetess, Julia Ward Howe in 1872. An activist to the core Julia utilized her potentials to further the cause of Mothers Day. She wrote a powerful Mothers Day Proclamation in Boston in 1870 and demanded declaration of official holiday and celebrations on Mothers Day.

 2022 MOTHERING SUNDAY POEM

Who provided the unconditional love I tasted
Who was there, who tied my shoe laces

Where do I curl up, when not sure how am feeling
Where is my mother, her presence is my healing

What do I know, I always had a gender
What would I do, if I didn't have a mentor

Was my after school classes, activities and friends near
Was my mother my chauffeur? Yes, she was there

When I grew up, I wanted to be like my mother
When I grew up, she was still my listener

Why is my love an unconditional end
Why my Mother coach is, oh yes, my best friend
